Can any one help..?

Having not installed any SWA before I’m about to undertake a job to install 6mm 2core cable to agarage. The cable would need to be buried for approx. 20m in the ground – whichI’m allowing to go 500mm deep. However it is when the cable first enters theground and when it comes out I’m concerned - remaining areas will be fixedevery 300mm onto concrete gravel boards etc – what mechanical protection would Ineed as it vertically enters and leaves the ground? To protect from strimmeretc.

Also I’m allowing for a IP65 rated garage consumer board withstandard sockets and switches - but are there any limiting factors ininstalling by windows and doors?

A TT system from at the garage end! - which is considerably more reliable than trusting 30m of CPC buried in the ground

Hmmm, Really?? Well if you say so, it must be right!!!!! I'll now have to re-evaluate the 100's of thousands of metres of cables i've had buried under the ground over the last 40+ odd years!! I guess the vast majority of all the other Electricians and Engineers will have to do the same now too!!

well with all you experience; is TT earthing arrangement on the garage end not sufficient - The steel armour will obviously be earthed at the CU (with RCD)

You're digging yourself an even bigger hole now, ....why would you have an RCD at the supply end, when you're installing SWA cable?? Are you not installing a garage RCD CU at the load end of this cable??

I wouldn't install a TT system at a garage, unless their was no other way other than to TT it.

Not really - I obviously plan to use a RCD unit in garage - I know this may cause both house and garage to trip but I want RCD on the Garage board and we all know the SWA must hav RCD protection...right!

I'm gonna say at this point this is a definite wind up. If not, put the tools down and get an electrician in.

NO we don't, because you're Wrong!! Only if we are talking about the house having a TT earth would a RCD be needed to protect the SWA cable...
