I reckon you could get him down at least a grand and he's stil got a profit
I don't know what these panels normally cost or what he paid for them but that would be my guess and cheaper for him than swapping the panels over later.

Had a look at their website, cells are from bosch or Q cells with branded junction boxes etc, looks like they are just assembled from sourced components with only the frame made in house, I think they would have been much cheaper than original panels though and are they likely to be around to honour any guarantee in years to come.

I would register the installation first, as long as no one realises the panels on the MCS certain are different to the receipt. Post 12th December complain to them in writing, threaten to get REAL involved and get some sort of refund. I know of loads of companies who have done this trick and they do it on purpose to make more money and they are massively exploiting the situation as it is at the moment as people are desperate for the installations.

What I can't understand is - I can buy Kyocera so why can't your installer? We were offered them last week.

Just double checked and they were available in the middle of last week. Aboout the same price as REC so I'd be asking for at least £800 reduction in bill. You might have had to compromise on size of panel and number they were 235's available so you'd have had to have 17 if you had space but at least you'd have had your panels of choice.

To be fair to the installer, the situation with stock is different this week to a couple of weeks ago. Stock is starting to become easier to source again.

I would definitely ask for a refund. Out of interest, when did you sign the contract?

lads lets face it!! very sad we r on here this time of nite:) office in morn so best get some shut eye!!!

We had plenty of space on the roof too it is 18m long by 3..8 deep and all south facing.

The general opinion seems to be these are cheaper panels which is, I suspect, the reason they where swapped and the shortage of equipment is a good excuse at the moment. I think it is best to pay for these panels in full tommorow so the system can be registered and sort the difference in price or a possible swap of panels at a later date. Panel swap would be my ideal choice as if I had wanted panels of far east origin I could have saved £2400 in the first place. Wish I had just gone with the cheapest now! Thanks Dave

I doubt you would have got either the Bosch or Q-cell in a Chinese module. I would also suspect that an Indian company is going to be around a lot longer than many european ones that are already struggling to compete on price or quality.

we priced 2 options for client SANYO £12600 or £10200 upsolar client went for SANYO we had payed for them but never turned up! fitted ET solar (took a week due to collecting the kit and finding brackets) plus client very fussy! no swa wanted black conduit! all takes extra time! still only charged upsolar price ! probbably made £1000 on that job due to HASSLE but would never charge the top price even though it really wasnt worth the hassle!!! got a nice letter complementing me and my fitters !!

Dave, get the invoice changed to say Emmvee. Having a receipted invoice with Kyocera on it might cause problems in the future.

I agree, we love Bisol and have them as our European panel of choice, great Photon reports, great quality and performance, great wholesaler and manufacturer great with after sales service BUT I doubt we're going to be able to put together a sensible cost for our customers unless they seriously reduce their prices and I'm not sure they are going to be able to do that.

It seems wholly ironic that with Europe in the mess it is at the minute we're all going to have to support the Chinese and Indian economy as a result of the Fit cut.

As far as i understand the NFU will still not insure your system if you use any Indian kit or some Chinese kit due to fire risk ! Well that was the official line i was told only a few months ago ?

In a similar position what would be an appropriate price reduction for a (pre-notified) change from 16 x Sharp NU-R240 to 16 x Upsolar UP-M230P?

TIA
