Insulation Resistant dropped to 1.7megohms from 20 - help please

Many thanks that's reassuring. The reading has gone up slightly this morning to 4.7 (no rain overnight and it sounds as if we will have a dry day) and at the moment the system appears to be generating about 110 watts. Now we need to find someone to check it out now. At 72 my wife wont let me up on the roof which is frustrating because I'm sure I'd be fine.

She seems to me to be a very sensible lady Gary, so please take her advice, and don't get up there mate.

Solar City does know his onions, and if he advises you to contact REAL, then I would take heed.

Almost certainly water in the connectors, we've seen this on a flat roof mounting where because of blocked drains (not by us!) the panels ended up under water and one of the panel / panel connectors was under water. Once we isolated the circuit we also got a DC / Earth voltage reading - by looking at the +ve and -ve voltages it was easy to locate the point of failure, as soon as we relocated the cable, all was well and the fault hasn't re-occured. - SMA Inverter reported it as Insolation failure on the string and beacuse we use isolators on EVERY string it was easy to troubleshoot and fix.

Well, that's very helpful, didn't know about them. Obviously we want to get it sorted asap but meanwhile are worried that it might affect the panels or system.
Personally I'd ask on here if there was a devon installer who'd be prepared to assist - it should be a half day job at most for someone locally, probably chargeable at around £100 for the work, which is likely to be far preferable to trying to wade your way through the process of claiming against your warranty insurance for such a relatively low cost piece of work.

Unless it's a particularly difficult roof to access etc and scaffolding was required, in which case the costs would be higher.

Six months on and the installers didn't come back and hae now disappeared. Is there anyone out there who can suggest who to contact we're near Tavistock in Devon - still needs sorting - help please.
