big danny

Hi guys, i think im in with the chance of a job as a mature apprentice with a local company(as a sparky obviously). although i never seen my time out the first time round im determined to do it this time. problem is ive never had to do anything technical for about ten years so i kinda dreading the interview as ive probably forgot more than i now know, any advice please. ive been doing lots of studying to help me out but fingers crossed. another thing can someone explain to me how e/stops are wired into control panels for large plant equipment as ive forgotten

Some great advice there, especially with regards questions. There is standard format for Q's which seem to have been covered in the thread.

Definately take time to learn some new acronyms. I had an interviewer ask

' ...and you have experience of RAMS?"

# Hmmm Rams, Rams? Randon Access..., Remote something...... #

I replied " what is it?"

Risk Assessment Method Statement !

Good Luck.

Just regisetered with SECTT for a pre employment test, dont know if it will be of any benefit, maybe get a certificate of some sort if i pass that i can send along with my cv's to potential employers,

Big D,
There is a rumour going round that they make their minds up in the first 10 seconds.
Do as someone said earlier, Smart & confident!

The other option is though...all the best jobs I've ever had have come from knowing the right people, no interviews involved! Hope you get there yourself one day. Good luck.

Sorry mate, but if there is a next time I suggest be honest is the key, try and pull the wool over their eyes and your knackered. Several questions they are likely to ask given your circumstances are. Why did you drop out last time, why should we give you a second chance when others are applying for a 1st chance, how will you feel taking instructions from someone younger than you and how will you manage financially on what is likely to be a low wage to start with. Those are the questions I`d ask if I was interviewing you. The same answer based on maturity, life experience etc will do the job nicely. Good luck mate

Im sor yto hear that you have been knocked back BUT keep at it altho 27 yr old apprentices are few n far between as gov contribute to under 24s not "mature" due to the government wanting to focus on youff unemployment rather than ALL unemployment
possibly saying your a bisexual transgendered jew with non white skin tones who attends chaple while worshiping mohammed with your budist polish wife you may stand a chance
