Is the Youtube generation helping the trade?

Recently been watching a few Youtube videos/ blogs of sparks filming their day to day stuff. Just wondering about if this is good thing for the trade?

Surely it gives the DIYers some more info on carrying out stuff that should be left to qualified folk..

Any thoughts ?

YouTube is great especially for another source of info for us trainees. John Ward, GSH electrical, Sparky Ninja, Chris Kircher & My trusted electrican as all these speak to the Trainees

The likes of Thomas Nagy has captured a big audience & fair play to him, but for me watching someone floating through the west end slinging out the odd one liners whilst capturing the end of him finishing a job doesnt do it for me.

I am really a cowboy. I did 5 days training then on the 2nd week became a carpenter. I might go back for the weekend and be a plasterer too.
I lurk on the forum to make sure my customers dont come on moaning about me.I figure if they google me and see me on here then the forum gives me a veneer of professionalusm
If they do moan then I will have to 'deal with them'.
On a serious note, I have found the best place to advertise isnt online but at one of them local romanian car wash places. I gave them a load of keyrings to hand out. One side my company. Otherside the car wash.
My next plan is air fresheners. Them cheap ones hanging off the mirror that are meant to look like trees. I am pricing up some from aliexpress. Will have my details on and give them to garage to use. They are up for it as it saves them having to buy any elsewhere. The car wash cleans over 400 cars a week. So lots of potential work.

I wouldn't worry about arming diyers because if youre doing it right and they follow the way you do it properly then it should make them safer than having a go with no knowledge.
Also I think a lot of sparks spend far too much time worrying about things like diyers, so what if they're out there wiring things up, just concentrate on your own life and let the rest of the world worry about theirs.

I didn't say i was worried, doesn't make no difference to me as I don't do Domestic work. Just thought it may an interesting topic to debate..

My reply wasn't aimed specifically at you, more British sparks in general.
I think some of them seem to get worked up too much about what other people are doing when in fact they should be concentrating on what they do and not worry about others.
There are hundreds of threads on here about short course guys and diyers being the work of the devil when all I would say is concentrate on your own business and customers, the others are nothing to do with you.
Life is too short to worry about things you can't control.
Ps when I say you I don't mean YOU!!!!

I'm sure it can be a positive and negative thing depending on who's viewing the videos and for what reasons.

For me videos from John ward, Chris kitcher GSH electrical and many more have been invaluable for my electrical education
