hi all,

i quoted a job today for ÂŁ550, the job involves fuse board change (17th edition split board), kitchen rewire with 5 doubles sockets 2 spurs feeding dishwasher and washing machine and a seperate cooker circuit. Also taking a swa to garage with small board feeding 2 sockets and two flourecents. also to run lighting, power and a shower cable to loft for future loft convertion. i quoted ÂŁ550 thinking this was a good price but got told i was a rip off merchant. is this a fair price?

Depends on your location.

Sounds quite cheap to me, with out seeing the job, a DB change could be ÂŁ300 on its own. Kitchen rewire would be half a days labour for first and second fix if no patching up to be done. Garage power another half day with a reasonable short run of SWA. SO there 2 days labour add on parts for the garage and kitchen. Plus all your Part P registration etc.

yes that is with materials, its in the maidstone area of kent. it should be quite an easy job i was thinking 2 and half days. i usually charge more but for a cousins mate i thought i would be nice and go a bit cheaper. he seems to think he can ring up some sparks and get a much cheaper price so when he comes back to me im going to tell him to jog on haha

Far too cheap IMO. We charge ÂŁ250-ÂŁ300 just for an average board change and test. The materials for the kitchen and garage will take you up to your price.

Not a bad price if your working labour free ;)

I agree with Ponty Massive, around the ÂŁ1200 mark for me
