Hello all,

Just a quick question, as i am a little unsure on the application for the gold card.

My qualifications are;

C&G 2330 Level 3
C&G 2330 Level 2
C&G 17th Edition
C&G 2394
C&G 2395

Would this qualify me for a JIB Gold card??

Cheers

It doesent state am2 is needed if you have the 2356 though..?

I have checked and re-checked my JIB handbook and I am wrong.

You are right, you do not need the AM2 to obtain a gold card. 2330 and 2356 is enough. Although the current NVQ framework requires that you complete the AM2 as part of it.

Certain companies brought unnamed registrations of the 2356, as the last certification date is 2016. Basically you complete the 2356, then at the end they put your name as the registration. So i can still do the 2356.

I think.. lol

No, you can do the 2357 though.

What you need to do is complete a conversion qualification to essentially make your 2330 into the 2365, this is made up of mainly an environmental unit and some other bits and bobs on health and safety. You would then go on to complete your NVQ portfolio as part of the 2357 framework, then at the end you would complete your AM2.

After all of that you will be awarded the C&G 2357 Advanced Diploma (NVQ level 3) in electrical installation.

If they have then go for it.

You have to be doing more than house bashing though. The portfolio is heavy on the commercial and industrial side of things.

I do a little industrial but not much, my friend did the 2356 with little industrial or commercial, it depends on the quality of your evidence i guess.

I do a little industrial but not much, my friend did the 2356 with little industrial or commercial, it depends on the quality of your evidence i guess.

Ok, for example, you need to have installed at least 7 of these 10 different types of containment:
  • PVC conduit
  • PVC trunking
  • Steel conduit
  • Steel trunking
  • Cable tray
  • Cable basket
  • Cable ladder
  • Cable ducting
  • Modular wiring systems
  • Busbar systems

Also you need to have installed at least 8 of these 10 different types of cable:
  • Thermosetting insulated cable
  • Single core PVC cable
  • Multi-core PVC/PVC cable
  • MICC
  • SWA
  • Armour braided flexible cable
  • Data cable
  • Fibre optic cable
  • Fire resistant cable
  • PVC/PVC Flat cable (T+E)

You need to have access to company health and safety documents and risk assessments. You also need access to company method statements. You have to demonstrate and provide evidence of motor control knowledge both DOL and YD, you also need to have worked in some capcity with a fire alarm system. This lot is just scratching the surface!

This aint the qual for your average house basher! Not saying you currently aren't, but you need to be working on these systems on a regular basis, or can gain regular access to work on these types of system and get hold of such documents to be able to complete the course.

Just thought I'd let you know because a training provider just wants your money, they aren't going to be clear on exactly what is required to complete the portfolio of evidence.
