If his contract of employment states he is employed as an electrician then that is his pay rate if his contract was changed to be employed as an approved electrician then he would get the approved rate quite simple really

They will not change his contract - that is the problem

The rules have all changed for the worse since I got my approved so I don't know what the current rules are now.But when I got my approved I remember it meant that my employer got a letter from the grading commitee telling them about my change of grade and instructing them to pay the rate for that new grading change of pay.
The boys employers are at it and need brought to task.
