Just went to look at a job. Student accomodation. 4 bedrooms. 1 kitchen.

Kitchen - 10 double sockets- 4 low mounted for appliances.
Bedrooms - 4 double sockets - 2 of sockets on dado trunking.
Hallway - 2 single sockets -2 emergency lights

Bedrooms one central light and a mirror light.
8 switches - flush grid
4 PIR light switch's
4 extractor fans
Electric Oven

All in singles and black enamel conduit.

Apparently 4 sparks have let these guys down. Job looks like a right ball ache lots of bends etc.

I think it needs a new board because existing one I have never seen before and looks like it will be near impossible to find circuit breakers etc. Also the board is supplying other parts of the building which is not under construction...communial lighting etc...

What price would you put on this. Ceiling height is about 4 meters. the area is about 25m2. False ceiling is going in and conduits are to go into existing tray work.

All materials are provided so its just labour costs.

Depends on a few factors:

Location
Your Daily rate
How much you hate doing conduit????
How long do you think it will take you? without actually seeing it this is the big question only you can answer?

I bloody hate conduit, I don't touch it at all!!!! But this looks to be a real earner.

Liverpool City Centre.

Day rate for this is going to be much higher than usual. Lets say £30ph

Take me 10days with another lad.

Bloke reckons he got quotes of between 1600-7500 labour costs...mkassive bloody difference!

Lads can you put a ball park figure on what I should go in at?

I don't really want the job but if I can get a good conduit team in il take it....

QUotes that ranging and the history of it you could charge anything as has been said. I'd say between 6 & 7k total job price no day rates... You'll get it done in less than 10 days...

Do you have to strip the old stuff out as well???

No all been stripped....

Does anyone want to jump on it with me?

Just quoted 3500 see what he comes back at. Jobs an absolute ball ache.

Thats a low quote, especially as you think the jobs a ball ache!!!! - work it out say you do a 8hrs a day for 10 days (your estimate) and your cut as you've said is 30p/h then you've only left 13.75 p/h for your oppo. You've asked for a specialist in conduit how you gonna pay him.

Should have gone in higher and seen how he acted after that, but with 4 sparky's letting him down already I bet he just wants it done. He'll soon get his money back on that!!!

I'm willing to give conduit guy a chance to put a price in with a bonus if done in a week. All materials are supplied don't forget and the is just labour

If you can get the conduit chap to do all conduit work in max of 5 days then pay him about £1000 the you can pay your mate £500 and you knick £2000 for your work, sounds ok to me, as long as all materials are provided.
