Hi I am planning on having some work done in my garden area and garage and have been quoted a couple of prices from qualified electricians (self-employed to big companies) that vary in price, so just wondering if some of you could quote me, thanks.

I'm paying for labour, materials etc

Materials came to about ÂŁ260/ÂŁ300 roughly

garage:

new fuse board with existing lights and sockets going into it.

garden:

2 brick lights on 2nd step of garden steps
3 weatherproof double sockets
1 way switch and switch for my spur to control brick lights and sockets
being run in swa

its impossible to quote off the internet, if you have given everyone the same spec, just go down the middle for the quotes, cheapest ones probably a ----er.

Or may not have the overheads of the others.

As pointed out, it is near impossible to quote for work on a forum.

Personally i think they all sound too cheap as over half of those quotes would be in materials alone.

Nobody on here would be able to give a comparable price based on the details you have given. Need a lot more detail and a site visit to accurately quote.

I will go out on a limb and say that as a guess the materials come to around about the right figure but again this depends on the quality and spec of the materials used. As for the remainder of the quote, not a chance without seeing it.

All I can say is that if all the quotes you have had are for the exact same spec, and timescale and they are all similar then there probably right.

As said above. Don't rule out the cheapest as being poor, same as ruling out the most expensive as being a rip off. The cheapest could well be the best, little overheads to cover so labour charge is less = probably more inclined to go the extra mile to make you happy.

I do hope that you havent come on here in the hope of getting a ball park figure to drive some poor guys prices down :)

No idea without see the job, or a drawing at the very least, as well as whether things like bonding are in place or needed etc.

It really is hard to say. 1 person might have quoted you for a day and 3 men turn up. The other quoted for 4 days and just 1 guy does it. You see what I'm saying

yea i see what you mean the trenches are already dug for SWA, garage has power already. new fuse board with more ways. wire in existing circuit, 1 leg out to 2 brick lights via switch, another legout to 2 double sockets via fused spur, cable out of wall in to back of double socket, i reckon about a days work max

Maybe your right about a days work, maybe not. Still hard for me to say.

Without seeing it and this is by no means an accurate judgement I would say a day but I'd be sending 2 men to it.

BUT AND IT'S A BIG BUT, WITHOUT SEEING IT I COULD BE WAY WAY OFF THE MARK.

How long have you been quoted? And how much?
