what do you guys think of this joint? its to parallel up two 5ah batteries so the radio will last longer lol

twist, solder then heat shrink. no cuts in one of the cables just insulation removed.

its only temporary till i get some joints or double crimps etc. (probably make/get an iso plug made with the right ends)

15 years ago in my technical school we been taught soldering cables, then on the apprenticeship been working with older electrician, he had a big big soldering iron for soldering even big cables if needed. if properly done that joint will have same resistance as the cables joined, or even lower due to more conductor area.
They dont like mechanical stress or vibration, but thats not a problem for fixed wiring situations.
Now i have a portable gas iroda, does job very well.
 
When I was an apprentice we used massive soldering irons on a gas burner to solder cable underground joints. Nowadays I see more and more specifications on jobs that forbid the use of solder jointing. Not sure why.
 
I watched this program where NASA where extending a cable and joining it. Don't remember what size it was bit it was big. Used a huge hydraulic crimper to do it.
