Hi everyone,

I am planing to join Domestic Installer with NICEIC. And I am thinking to demonstrate my own home for assessment. I will change consumer unit and install a new light circuit and notify to building control via third party. I just wonder this is acceptable?
I know I can ask this directly to NICEIC but first I wanted to hear some advise here.

Thanks

I'm fairly sure at least on the ongoing assessments they say the job they check must not be at your own property - not sure if that applies to the initial assessment though. I can't see it specifically mentioned in their scheme rules

This is the page with all their info on - with new some new rules on the scheme entry coming in this year...

Easiest to call them I find (expect a bit of a wait) - because they aren't great at replying to emails, unless they are trying to sell you something....

Spoke to niceic. He said for initial joining I can show just one Job which could be my own house. For notifying the he did not give straight answer saying niceic RECOMMEND notifying bc. I guess they are not fussy about that. He suggested me to join approved contractor scheme instead.

If they are saying approved contractor I take it your work is industrial/commercial and domestic rather than just domestic?
I have been working for different companies mostly domestic work. I was also working as a pts electrician for tfl, I was also working asfire alarm installation supervisor on cross rail before pandemic. I can not work in crowded places anymore as I was diagnosed with blood cancer. I will join as domestic installer for a year to see how it goes before upgrading.
