Discuss Junction box stress in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

Don't the regs say your only allowed to install a j.b if it has direct access?

just access and even a location under a carpet, below a section of screwed down floorboard (preferably shown on a drawing) counts as access AFAIK.

& as manufacturers instructions superseed regs that'll be good enough for me too.

Manufacturers' instructions must be adhered to in order to comply with the Regulations. This does not mean that they supercede the Regulations. You must still comply with every other Regulation (surely)!

If I, as a manufacturer, state in my data that it is not necessary to ensure that the circuit will disconnect in time in the event of a fault that doesn't make that statement superior to the requirement of the Regulations that it does!

Oh, agreed. what I was meaning was in direct relation to the fitting of the accessory in accordance to its requirements. Those basic tests should be done and any problems identified and rectified with your installation check list before work commenced.

UK Instructions are to UK regs working hand in hand anyway ain't they?
