Been asked to install circuit for an 'Aircenter 12'.

This is what I know:-

Motor 7.5kW
Input power on-load 9.8kW
400V 3 Phase
Automatic star-delta starter
Recommended circuit cable CSA 4mm 4 core (up to 50m)
Compressor hard wired connection

Given a choice between isolator with HRC motor rated fuse links (25A) or Type D MCB, i'm favouring MCB at main board and a local rotary or lever isolation switch. Will be using SWA; 8 metre surface run.

Would like to know whether a compressor requires any special considerations and would welcome any thoughts on alternative fusing/isolation arrangements.

Thanks

You don’t say if the starter is integral to the compressor, every screw compressor I’ve fitted has had an integral starter. OK I’ve never fitted one that small.

If it is, forget all the talk of seven pole isolators. As for protection, 25M32A fuses for me. I’ve worked on thousands of drives, fuses blow for a reason. MCB’s have a mind of their own especially if they’ve tripped before.
