i like wiha also. But I needed some new cutters quick time as had a little accident with mine that left a hole through them and were useless at cutting after lol

Were we cutting live cables ... ? ;-))

I was once using a 2.2 kW router, cable lying across an untidy working surface dragged a chisel off the top and it fell to cut the cable. The chisel was thrown some distance! It took some work to regrind the tip ... but longer to get a replacement Bosch lead!

I managed to get the pliers for £75 in the end and almost didn't get them because of the price. The bloke then told me they come with a lifetime guarantee which covers everything (including blunt jaws and warn grip plate) apart from live cable chomping:biggrin:. My knipex ones have warn down jaws and grip plate after about 5 months and they cost £40. Their screwdrivers are supposedly made from a single piece of steel bar ground to a point and shaped unlike most which are just drop forged. One bloke still uses his dad from the 1920's

lanky,lanky.

the steel nowadays is usually inferior.

i own a few straight razors and the ones around 100 years old are the best quality.

so much so that if any nos blanks come up for sale they sell for a fortune

You would think with all this modern technology we could design a better steel for tools. Its a shame titanium is expensive a set of drivers cast in them would be nice.

What's a nos blanks?

new old stock, bassically steel made and stored ages ago.

they can make as good steel but they choose not to as its cheaper

I haven't tried the screwdrivers yet, but the most I hold the 9" pliers the more I like the feel of them... Just the screwdrivers seem "cheap" with the handles, although they do have that tempting plastic top to turn into the Multi screw and chisel! :)

Been using their 8" electrician pliers with crimping element all week and their the dogs. I find them more comfortable than my knipex ones and they cut better.

We've lost our way with steel making and Phosphor Bronze too. Neither are what they used to be!
