Brown selling the gold is nothing to do with him being socialist or not as it was sold to pay for investing in the things that 17 years of tory rule had all but destroyed. They (New Labour) made a pledge not to alter budgets plans for the 1st two terms of their parliament while still investing millions in the NHS/Eduction. The only way they could do this while still keeping their promises was to sell off gold and use PFI ect. Personally I would rather they had taxed us a few pence in the pound more and paid for it all that way.

When we here labour detractors talk about their last 3 terms in office all we hear about is 1. Illegal wars (Tories supported it and they traditionally love a war). 2. Selling off the gold 3. The spending in the last few years of government.
We don't hear about brand new hospitals that have been built up and down the country. No mention of the huge refurb program for other hospitals.....all of this has led to people not waiting a whole 18 months (At the end of tory rule) to see a consultant.
We also don't hear about the huge reduction in class sizes - Effected by more schools being built up and down the country and the refurb of old stock.....see a pattern ?
Crime fell year on year - Nope no mention of that either.
They also get blamed for the crash - even though it was a tory ideology and the continuing of their free market light touch regulation that allowed it to happen in this country....same for the USA - they followed the same principals and look where they are. BTW I see the current government have done loads to make sure that type of thing never happens again.......Oh **** no they must have forgotten already.
Don't get me wrong I wish labour had done a ton of the stuff they did differently and just done what old labour did which was be up front about tax and the need for it. The thing is we all want these services but we don't want to pay for them through tax...it's madness to think that a single user can get a better deal from the private sector for a service than they would if paying for that service through taxation......
Everybody slags off the NHS and yet the majority of us wouldn't even be here without them. Same for schools too...slag them off along with the teachers ect but in general they taught you to read/write and add up ffs.
I genuinely fear another tory led 5 years.....and if scotland do get indi then I fear a tory government for a generation probably until its too late to save anything this time.
Another sensible fellow like myself and Trev, good post mate  (ps, I was joking about handing in my membership card  )

That's all very well and good, but it nearly bankrupted the country.
This was their fiscal legacy... BBC News - Treasury chief's note to successor: There's no money :smilielol5:

And as for the present Govt's borrowing, that's precisely what Labour have been bleating on about since the last election...Borrow, Borrow, Borrow!!!
Yes it is disgusting isn't it, we are now even poorer than 5 years ago and 300,000 more people cannot even feed themselves, third world Britain? we need a new Labour government and urgently IMHO.

Outgoing Treasury chiefs have been leaving that note for their successors for decades, this time round the incoming one decided to try to make political capital out of it and people fell for it.
The US responded to the financial crisis by investing in their industry and infrastructure and as a result came out of recession a lot quicker than the UK with more stability. What is your response to that?

Right you lot have convinced me, I will vote Conservative like all you will at the next General election, I will turn in my Membership to the Labour party and change the curtains to Blue instead of red

Mike you surprise me. I had you down as a closet Liberal supporter. Lol

If Labour hadn't squandered the full pot of money the Tories left and so m e ! ! We would not be in the problems we are now
Maggie had the front to stand up to Europe Tony Blair gave milions that Maggie had got back
We are in deep shlip now because of new Labour simple as that .
I don't want some one telling me about what old Labour did in the 50's please
Also under Labour the new unemployed disenchanted youth started

The brutal reality is that the uk will continue to get poorer, each and every year the population grows by 200k people.

housing costs are out of control unless we build 300k houses per year

thanks eu.

no uk party can do anything about it

Tony blair and mo mowlam had the courage to sit down and do a peace deal with gerry adams and martin mcguinness. It was labours impartiality that gave irish nationalists the courqge to view them as honest brokers rather than adversaries, and although there was 69 bombs in northern ireland last year the good friday agreement is still in place

Your having a laugh ain't you
Only 69 bombs and the agreement is still in place , something wrong there
Ha ha ha
Well done Labour for letting the ira shyte out of prison

I disagree with your total post, and you have made most if not all of it up lol

Oh FFS
The reason that the money supply dried up is because of the banks
The tories would have bailed them out in exactly the same way
Maggie sold us down the river and it's only fools who can't see that. She personally cancelled the Sovereign Wealth Fund which was set up by Tony Benn. The very same deal that now makes Norway one of the richest countries around.
Disenchanted youth did not start under Labour. Before the wicked witch go....
You know what, I really can't be bothered with this **** any more. If you can't see it then you really have got your head shoved up your arse.
Sod this, I'm unsubscribing before I say something that will get me banned.
How any normal working man can vote for these ****ing criminals is beyond me.

So of course then under Labour everything is good Labour is perfect trev and you say I have my head up my arse !
And trev I might disagree with you. BUT I don't call you names I might think you are mentally impaired but if you can't discuss without name calling then your right unsubscribe and leave it to mdj and diddy also misguided but willing to discuss without name calling

Like you do ! You outright lie by saying Tony Blair is good ( he isn't)

Oh come on Dingle.. he took us to war with Iraq. Look at Iraq now, full of calm and run in an orderly fashion by that new political party.. whats it called... oh yes.. ISIS.
