I have a old version Makita laser level,
Makita SK102Z Self Levelling Cross Line Laser Level - https://www.toolden.co.uk/power-tools/laser-levels/makita-sk102z-self-levelling-cross-line-laser-level/?gclid=Cj0KCQiA6dLgBRDoARIsAJgoM4tzNB2AlT0gbdpytSOieFxQuc_KQ-PJHc068_OebZCpCy4rxSaquDkaAscfEALw_wcB
It does the job but I wouldn't reccomend as the vertical line projection isn't as good as others. If you look at it the top has a big lump of rubber on the top so have to sit the lazer a couple of meters back.
If you look at the Dewalt laser levels or the Bosch one earlier in the thread you can see the top of the tool is cut at a 45° angle which allows the vertical line to be projected almost directly above where you site the laser, this is really useful if your in a tight spot or small room.

This is what I'd be looking for on my next laser.

I spent quite a bit of time reviewing which laser level to buy and I'm really glad I went for the DCE088D1G - see this thread I started a few months back Which laser level would you suggest? - https://www.electriciansforums.co.uk/threads/which-laser-level-would-you-suggest.168653/

I know it's expensive but the fact it uses dewalt batteries means you don't have to worry about AA batteries running out. The 'green' as opposed to red is MUCH easier to see.

I found a telescopic pole useful as well rather than a tripod, as with a tripod you can't get the laser level low enough for sockets.

A bit of unistrut and a rubber shoe for it works well also.

DW088K is what we use, we have two which is invaluable when you wish to cross lines or do a load of downlights. You can use a plasterboard clamp to support it but the dedicated prop is better quality.

I use Bosch, I have two of them and for down lights it’s essential.
Very worthwhile investment.
No I don't have any recommendations Mate. I can only advise that whatever suites your needs and is within your budget, go for it, there are umpteen models out there take your pick it's not exactly rocket science after all is it? what ever suits your requirements is the best way to go.

Dewalt for me.
Dw088k.

Cheap as chips and I always have AA batteries anyway for MFT and head torch.

I've had mine for a month or so and I reckon it's paid for itself already.
