Customer wants downlights installed but doesn't want to pay for robus or jcc led downlights.

Can anyone recommend the best led lamps or good alternatives they can put in gu10 downlights.

Thanks

Sounds like your customer doesn't want to pay for the best led lamps  I tend to use osram or Sylvania. I'm sure I seen a pack of 3 diall lamps in B&Q for ÂŁ9.99 but can't remember what wattage they were.

Before you go down the route of fitting poor LED lamps make sure they understand what paying for 2nd or 3rd best will mean, or else you risk getting a nasty moaning customer down the line....

I have seen those 3 packs in the shed and i'm sure they are something like 1W .. 20W equivalent.. next to useless.

Ledhut have some sealed units i was looking at last night. 3W, 5W, 7W etc start at around a tenner each with a trade account. They also do cheap GU10 lamps at around ÂŁ4.

Led lamps (like CFLs) are horribly personal for the specifier or supplier. We have come to the conclusion that only personal observation of a lamp in the intended lampholder / colour setting will give the reassurance that the customer will get what they want. We fitted a lamp in 10 positions with success but one luminaire with a pale lampshade looked ghastly with the same lamp fitted. Beware blue or cool white leds as they are reputed to keep people awake as they simulate morning sunshine wavelengths, beware of warm whites as they can deliver much less illumination than their daylight of cool white equivalent. We are using a multi-unit multi-led ceiling board to assess and demonstrate the effects of various type and powers of led.
Give the customer the harsh facts - 365 days at 4 hours per day is about 1500 hours, at 60 watts and 0.15 pence per unit this costs about ÂŁ13.0 per year. In 2 years a JCC downlighterunit plus 2 x ÂŁ1.30 (6 watt led) will have saved them money. Cheap components cost you more in the long run !

just make sure they are all the same model and brand on same circuit and if using dimmers that they are matched too. 1 x dodgy lamp has the potential to kill the rest of the circuit! Don't buy cheap they wont last.
