I have a problem with LED light fittings failing on a school (newly installed 3 year ago). About 100 fittings have failed now. You would expect the fittings to be of reasonable quaility, the manufacturer is a big UK one (who shall remain nameless). The manufacturer is suggesting it is a power quality issue. This does not seem right to me as it is only 1 type of fittings failing (other models of LED fittings onsite are fine), and none of the IT/AV equipment has any issues. There is a combined type 1/type 2 SPD installed at the origin.

Anyone had anything like this and got any advice?

Thanks.

I think you should ask for an explanation/report from them on what specific power quality issue causes their lamps to fail - and publish it on this site so others can scrutinise it. I'd be interested in looking at it.

Did you choose the fittings or were they specified by a designer/architect. If the latter, I would get whoever involved.
Either way, with so many fittings involved, don't let them fob you off with rubbish.... make them prove their point.

What ever you do next ......... DO NOT rely on telephone conversations ............ put the issues in writing to them, and if you think you are being fobbed off, ring up reception and ask for the MD's name and get them involved ..............

AND make sure the client knows all about what you are doing and going through ........... its YOUR credibility that is being trashed by suspect products
