Hi guys hoping someone can clarify something for me. Basically I’ve been asked to fit new SWA from a fused isolator to a new rotary isolator in a lift shaft. I don’t know if I can do it based on my quals (18th edition, part P, level 3 test inspect) and that I’m not NICEIC registered yet for myself as I work for a company under their registration. I’ve been told a minor works certificate is required but don’t want to fall foul if it is notifiable work. Has anyone got any advice with regards to lift rules and regs
Many thanks

I mean what do you have in qualifications apart from what you have quoted.

As I understand it Part P is for building control on domestic properties in England and wales…. So if this lift shaft isn’t in a domestic house (you haven’t said) it shouldn’t apply.

Minor works, as you are extending the supply…. But it’s going to come down to whether they accept you without cps membership in regards their insurance.

Ah sorry no it’s not domestic it’s commercial so I thought the same thing about part p

They say their happy that I’m not apart of a CPS and to issue the minor works but I just don’t want to be doing something that I shouldn’t especially as I am working towards being registered.

Unless something's changed that I'm unaware of, it's not always that simple. If commercial premises share a supply with a domestic property, everything is subject to Part P.
