Hi there just wondering if any one has had anything similar to this. Got a lighting fault it trips every so often there 3 down lights, 1 oside light, 1 flouresent on circuit ive replaced out side light taken all transformers of down light and put temp pendend in there and flo looks fine everything on circuit looks fine but mcb keeps tripping wen it feels like it could it be faulty mcb. No recent diy work, it even tripped wen no lights were turned on. Please any help very grateful.

Wow never seen so many clever dicks!!! But Many thanks to the ones mature enough to reply to me properly i will take on all your advice i was just asking for simple advice from some of you more experienced electricians.
 
Thank u im back there sat so will split the circuit and do full tests. It trips at different times day and night some times last for hours, days, or minutes. Thank you again for your help.
 
Firstly identify main lighting supply cable, and if possible check for any joints ie junction boxes, check all connections are correct, tight and free of any damp.

Then disconnect cable at both ends and check continuity if all clear reconnect and change mcb, hopefully that's the problem.

Ok am I missing something but it seems to be a common theme now that people do not bring their test gear with them!! Why?? I carry my test gear to every single job. The op says he changed the outside light and other lights. surely the time that took would have been better spent going to fetch the test gear! My advice always carry your test gear!
