When rewiring light circuits upgrading from 1mm to 1.5mm is it necessary to replace the switch wires which are 1mm as this involves far more digging out and mess that the occupant doesn't really want.
I intend to replace the loop circuit which at the moment isn't a loop circuit but can easily be...theres no more than 800w on iether of the circuits and both are covered by a 6amp mcb type b Any advice/recommendations welcome.

No mate, 1.0mm is fine as it will only ever carry the load of one or possibly two lights in an area. Obviously c/out insulation & resistance tests to prove existing cable & replace if needed.
