Hi

Just tried for the first time with my new kewtech kt64 to get a direct Zs reading with the circuit energized. not getting any readings, is ther something i may be doing wrong ? i have it set to loop.

also i understand the rcd testing but can anyone please explain the 0 degress and 180 degress sine wave ?

Thanks in advance :)

not familiar with tester but how many leads you using and how are they connected to circ?

you test rcd on both halfs of the ac wave.

Again, not familiar with testers so i would have a look at instructions.
As for the RCD test, yep you have to test it on both sides of the wave and as these results can vary the highest reading is the one to be recorded.

Are you by any chance tripping the RCD you could also do a Ze and with the R1 And R2 calculate what you should be getting.

Chris

i am testing a new upstairs lighting circuit, at the end of the circuit, every thing is on and using the meter at the light with the switich on and taking a measurement accross the s/l and the cpc.

is this the correct way for a direct zs reading ?

try connecting l/n/e leads to circuit, megger needs 3 leads for zs test and also often trips rcd when doing lighting circuits (6a) which is annoying ;)

other option is to join 2 of leads together

Hi,
I have the kt64 and you definately need all three leads connected to get a reading for Zs.

Also, if you look inside the top cover, there is a little diagram showing what leads connect to where when doing the various different test, insulation, rcd, etc. :)

you need to plug the 3 lead to iee plug into the meter slide the side panel over to hide line socket so you have cpc/earth socket left and 3 lead plug NEVER TURN METER DIAL WHEN CONNECTED to live circuit you will blow the fuse under the meter battery tray or detroy the meter if you need help i do a photo or two for you

Meggers i think have a high and low test.

Hi test requires N&E together and line.

Low test requires LNE connected to each respective terminal.
