Hi

I am currently getting used to my PAT tester - it's a Seaward Primetest 100.

I have gone to PAT test my fridge freezer.

- plugged fridge into Pat tester
- connected earth test lead to suitable point
- Pressed the appropriate button

BUT

the unit is coming up Lo Load.

I know it means power up appliance BUT I am unable to do so - yet obviously the appliance does work when plugged into a normal socket outlet.

How am I meant to conduct the test if I cant get past the Lo Load - unless there is another method?

Any help would be appreciated.

could it be that the thermostat is in the open state, i.e. the fridge/freezer is not running due to being cold enough. try setting the stat to max. then try your test when motor will run.

Thanks for the reply.

Will give it a go - Although the fridge freezer had been unplugged for about 40 minutes prior so would that not have warmed the fridge up slightly?

I thought that if a fridge freezer is off then its off? Just wondering where the power is going to come from when plugging in to PT tester so I would have thought that I am alsways going to see a Lo Load sign???

takes more than 40 mins for it to warm up i think. power comes from the tester, this power is not to run the appliance, but to confirm continuity of load.

Cheers for that.

Best bet then is to turn the Fridge Freezer off first - possibly open the doors up then do that item last in the hope that when plugging it in it powers up.

Thanks again Telectrix
