cheap chinese imported equipment with a visual inspection only, but then he will want extra to upgrade tails, add bonding etc. Then extra to fault find when the RCD/RCD's will not stop in! They will be left with a bill for £500 +

Which means nothing without a town. Give him a ring and see if the bonding and faults fixed are included too. lol

I suspect those items would be extra on any CU board change!!

The bonding and fault finding will, or should be known about after initial visual inspection and a preliminary short testing sequence. From what i have read here, most electricians specifically exclude remedial works that may be required for, or after a CU upgrade....
