Fair enough, I've always saved well though when I get work to look after myself when there is none and will continue to do so. I have damn good faith in the industry and men not taking the rate is the only way I can see it getting better at the mo,

Union, unite not really interested. In fairness it tough for them with all the temp work out there now, although wouldn't have beaten the besna without them. So standing together is the only way to bring it back.

fair enough, and well done for you for always earning far above a living wage, me however, ive lost my savings waiting for things to get better, and would consider those jobs if i had to.
as for all standing together, do you mean ALL or all, as we rarely stand together with the Electrical Trainee or 18 day freaks, yet they too can call thier selves electricians, like it or not, and the people hiring dont want good electricians they want cheap electricians who wont rock the boat and cause work, and want all thier EICR's to have a SATISFACTORY on the bottom

The problem is : people keep taking these agencies rates... blah blah blah......
One day, maybe one day.. the little people might just rise up..:nopity:
I disagree, I think part of the problem is people looking down their noses at others who have been forced into a corner. Yes it's good to have a choice or some savings to fall back on but what are you going to do when the savings are gone?
Remember, there but for the grace of whatever you'd care to name goes you, me or anyone else.
As for people rising up, dream on mate because that will never happen because the construction industry now runs on SE subbies who for what ever reason are not going to or are unable to collectivise. Maybe not Maggie but someone has won and it sure as hell isn't us.
I've said as much as I'm going to on this thread, time to unsubscribe.

I've always believed that it's easier to find work if you are in work.

If I was desperate enough I would take it.
Not so much for the money as for the contacts.

I'd have more respect for someone doing a good job for appalling money to pay his mortgage and feed his kids than someone sitting at home watching Jeremy Kyle and taking benefits.

Like a lot of folks on this forum I'm lucky enough to be in a position where I don't have to even consider working for these rates, but I'm certainly not going to judge someone else for doing so.
