Are there any circumstances when it might be acceptable to tick the "Continuity and Connection Verified" box of the Electrical Installation Certificate when there is no visual or physical access to the point at which the bonding (normally a clamp in domestic) is applied. If so what checks over and above the requirements for low resistance would be required and are there any references to this in any of the Regs/GNs?

i hope you mean EICR, not EIC. because on a EIC, you will have installed the bonding and ensured it is accessible. on a EICR, i would be inclined to enter LIM in the box, with a n ote in the comments section that connection was verified by measurement.

edit: unless you mean a EIC for additional works carried out.

Yes I did mean EIC. I am referring to an addition or alteration where the bonding is already there.

yeah, only thought of that after i had pressed the enter button. if the client don't want to pay to upgrade the bonding, then make sure you note on your cert. that it is undersized.

Thanks tel - Bonding is not undersized. Just can't see - or get to the clamp.

ah. just me got confused with t'other thread. note that it's inaccessible but that connection has been verified by resistance measurement to the pipework.

Just for your info, the situation you describe is covered on p35 of GN3, "Testing bonding conductors & earthing conductors", As Tel has said, look for low resistance (circa 0.05ohms), between two points e.g. metallic pipes.
