Evening all,

i have an issue with and RCD in a Hager split load CU.

Was called because the RCD tripped and wouldn't go back on. When I got there I turned all the breakers off and tried it and it still didn't stay on. I turned the main sw off along with the breakers and it went up but off again as soon as board was energised.

Voltage is at 239v so no issue with supply plus the first have of board isn't RCD protected.

changed RCD with the same results.

No work been done or anything added, any ideas?

Cheers,

Steve.

Think about it what does the main switch Isolate from each other upstream of the meter...

You need to prep-up on your theory -

Have you physically disconnected all circuits L an N on that rcd then added one at a time... clue !!! N/E fault!

Erm, find the insulation fault or find the borrowed/crossed neutral would be the way to go.

Also measuring the supply voltage at 239v doesn't necessarily means it has 'no issue'

I think this fault may involve that part of the circuit commonly known as the neutral and that other part of the circuit often referred to as the earth

But don't quote me as I am on the wrong side of 3 glasses of ozzy white!

My guess is an earth to N fault in the damaged light fitting. This will become a problem when other devices draw large currents.

Which rcd is it? Is it one for everything, one for a few circuits?
