Hi guys I have been asked to carry out an EICR on a unit which is part of a large shed/warehouse (which back in the day was a big open planned building). The mains cable which supplies the unit (PVC/PVC tails) is routed through the full building in steel trunking which passes through various businesses before it gets to the unit that is being tested. The building/installation is approx 40 years old so unsure if this was ok at the time as I think it was maybe the first business that was converted from the original large open plan warehouse. Is this something that should be highlighted on the report? Is a warning label on the trunking enough to keep myself covered?

Yes the DNO has one supply into the main switchroom, then there are various meters again in the same main switchroom which supply other businesses/outlets within the large warehouse. The unit I am working on is supplied with PVC/PVC tails in metal trunking. What I am concerned about is the fact this metal trunking passes through various businesses. They isolate their supply but there is still live cables in a trunking which is in their premises.
So it is essentially one installation. Regarding your worry of these live conductors passing through other businesses, assume something is live unless it is proved otherwise.

I see no issue with this, it sounds like a relatively normal installation.
The use of insulated and sheathed cables inside steel trunking is a little odd, but not any kind of problem.
