No, you don't need a stop button so I didn't include one. You can just use the FCU. Simpler the better.

It might be a bit too simple though, maybe a 1A in line or panel mount fuse on the enclosure for the smoke alarm relay wiring wouldn't be a bad idea.

Yes it does, if the contacts aren't rated then the control and load sides would need isolating by utilising the spare contactor pole.

Contactor in an enclosure with any old non-latching switch on the outside as a start switch. Use one of the poles of the contactor as a self hold via the normally closed of the smoke alarm relay.

Wasjust reading through this thread thinking why are people just mentioning DOL starters, can just be done with a reset button, I was about to reply but thought I'll read the full thread first.

Just to let you know, I have now fitted the smoke detector, and have ordered the relay base and lid along with the DOL starter, so when it arrives ill get on with it.

The other thing im thinking of doing is getting another one and fitting it so that it shuts the gas off on a solenoid valve, obviously ill have to get a Gas Safe person to do part of it, but that way, if there was a fire, at least there would be no gas either which makes things safer.
