MCS Certification 3rd Party??

Looked at a job the other day where client has installed himself a solar pv system with batteries.
The pv system is less than the magic figure of 3.6Kw.
He has asked us to connect to the electrical installation using an EPS output in event of power failure, and advice as he wants to export but as it is basically a DIY system how can he get MCS 3rd party approval? (We are electricians, not MCS so unaware of the implications)??

3.6kw is no longer magic figure, in certain cases you can install up to 32A with G98(install and notify)

Some kind of transfer switch will be needed to switch between normal feed and EPS feed

You can have mcs 3rd party certification, just need to call few companies to get quotes.
I enquire once and been quoted £400. So at 4p export and with this size of system you can expect around £40 per year or so depends on the usage, unless something change soon that's 10yrs for payback.
There is also alternatives for mcs which is flexi-orb.
I herd the news that octopus scrapping mcs and you can sign up with them as long as you confirm the system is up to regs and safe, so may be worth give them a call

I'll inform my client about the install and notify option, and the Octopus alternative (Flexi-Orb).

EPS - Yes have sourced a transfer switch, although not received it yet.
