I suspect my Megger 1710 tester is faulty
So I cut exactly 1 meter of 2.5 -1.5

I have nulled the probes as per the instructions.

Continuity test.

End to end
L = 0.11 Ohms
N = 0.11 "
CPC - 0.11 "

Question is this test valid.
Why is the CPC not 1.67 times 0.18 Ohms

What could I do to prove it's faulty or not before sending it off.

ADDED new duracells put in

Thanks in advance of any help.

all those readings are far too high for 1m . try a different set of leads for starters and make sure the plugs/sockets on leads and meter are clean. another tip, when reading such low values, don't null the leads. subtract from the result after.

Thanks for the tips - the meter is virtually brand new & clean I got it 11months ago used it 3 times.
Bought the kewtech light testing KIT and that didn't work, it doesn't work with the megger supplied plug tester
or the kewtech one, I put that down to incompatiblity.

Gonna send it back before the warrantly runs out. I'm guessing I'll ring megger on monday to find their off till after xmas :sad_smile:

I work as an electricains labourer and only 4 weeks of that was domestic in the past year.
No testing whatsover.
Need to get it sorted as I have guranteed min 3 weeks domestic with a local firm.
Only got this cos I was the one who got the job.

my lightmates don't work with megger test leads either. you need to get it off to megger asap, get it fixed under warranty.

i had a 1552 that was the same. all other functions were spot on, but continuity was hit and miss, mostly miss.

Posted to Megger, it was signed for on 24/12/15 @ 9.02am they say 5 working days for return. :D
Lucky I noticed it cos it was bought on 12 jan 2015 and I didn't register for the 3yr warranty.

Yes! Got it back today the service report says:
Faulty current circuit.

They've put a date sticker on it saying it's been calibrated....result.
Bit miffed I have a repaired tester, would I have a resonable shout on insisted in a new replacement ?
