Hi was wondering if any of you have this meter or know if it is any good. I've read some decent reviews in the internet but would like to get your opinions

Thanks

i have been using one of these meters for nearly a year now. it has been reliable but i would recommend changing the rechargable batteries that it comes with as they are of poor quality. The only real problems ive encountered is the fact that it is a 3 lead meter so Zs testing can be quite tricky and the rcd loop test (zs) always reads higher than it should, but that is a common problem on most meters. overall for the price a competent meter that so far has not let me down, just remember CHANGE the batteries.

Hi

I've got the MI3100 Easi Plus and quite like it, its straight forward, easy to use and was a good price compared to the Fluke/meggar alternatives. The only down side is no auto test, so have to make connections then press test button which is a bit of a juggling act for the tests using 3 leads with GS38 conforming tips!

The Metrel MI3000 Eurotest Easi Plus is a very good MFT putting a lot of more expensive MFTs to shame. Anybody starting out on a restricted budget or looking for their first tester would do well to seriously consider buying one. One minor criticism, the Metrel instruction manual can confuse novices by the odd English used in places (lost in translation from the original Slovene). Any difficulties, just post a question on the forum, one of us is likely to know the answer.

i have this meter, it is a good meter, depends what you are used to, the previous place i worked supplied a metrel 61557 whch is an earlier version. i agree with replacing the rechargeable batteies, i use 2450 mah duracell, 11 quid from amazon for 2x 4 packs.bear in mind they are NiMh which can loose their charge unless put through a proper charging regieme when first used. the tester will easily cope with anything you need during most everyday testing, you dont have a specific earth rod test function but there are ways and means.. hope this helps

I also have this meter. It is a good all round meter for the price. My only gripe is that recently mine would not carry sucessfully carry out a PSCC test on a 3 phase board. It was giving some alert but this will be resolved when it goes in for calibration.
Apart from that, no other problems.

HI AVTECH, Quick question regarding this post. Do you use the metrel to charge the duracel batteries? Or did charger? Just bought one of these testers.

Hi tosh1 - the batteries are charged within the Metrel MI3000.

That is, you would connect the ELV charger to the MFT, which will charge the AA batteries internally.

Just seen this thread and thought I'd make my comments about my MI3000...

Personally I'm very happy with it, although the tutors at college mocked it.

I view it as the Ford or Vauxhall of the tester world, not a BMW or Mercedes, but still a perfectly decent and reliable bit of kit which will do what is asked of it.

I find it very easy to use (although having to use 3 leads for some tests did take a little getting used to) and pretty well built. The croc clips and probes are better than the Meggers in my opinion. I also find the display clearer and easier to read (RCD auto test displays all the results at once on it's higher definition screen where you need to press a button to cycle through the results with the Megger I've used).

Only downsides are you can't disconnect the 3rd lead when you're doing 2 lead tests (R1+R2, IR etc) and the neck strap has a habit of coming loose!

Definitely a bit of kit I'd recommend to anyone on a budget!

Hi DNS1, thats great feedback. Glad to hear you're happy with the tester. I'm not sure why Metrel can't colour it blue and grey like the MI3100, as it seems the colour scheme does seem to take a mocking!!!

Have a look at the following thread, and the final post which is an image:

http://www.electriciansforums.net/electrical-tools-products/58600-tester-one-me-2.html

(If you're not aware already), although you can't physically disconnect the test 3rd test lead for IR and continuity tests, you can link two leads together, so that the third isn't loose.

Cheers test-meter,

I was never sure about piggy-backing the leads and whether it was the right or wrong thing to do, thanks for clarifying!

Oh, and you seem to have found the link to the previous review that I wrote of the tester! Computer crashed and I thought it had got lost!
