Most physical sparkying?

What in your experiene is the most physically demanding area of the electrical sector?

I've had a couple of jobs that were physically hard (Helping to wire mansions with huge ceilings, up and down 10 tread steps all day etc)

At the moment it's quiet and I miss being so active.

Never once whinged about having to carry 'my' sparks tools mate. Still I suppose these days thats against Union rules....

its not against union rules Im sure the top brass wish they had apprentices to polish their tools lol

Maybe not in the 'most physical' category, but the most 'draining', back in our two weeks of summer i spent a day in the loft of a barn conversion in devon. Having to crawl under and climb over various loft hazards and with a dust mask affixed to avoid the standard 3 feet of insulation dust hazards, I found I could only do about 15 - 20 mins at a time up there before needing a breather and a pint of water. My previous life has seen me working in Afghanistan, Oman and other similar places, but lifting and shifting stuff up there, alongside bent double around water pipes etc to get to junction boxes was up there amongst the best!!!

aye carrying storage bricks up 6 storeys when your on 30 smokes a day and 45!
Thankfully been smoke free for seven months!

Used to work for a removal company when I was younger so no stranger to hard work, but for me crawling around in a hot cramped loft gets me everytime!

Turn up onto a job as extra hands and labour to pull in a load of 4/c 300mm all differant leangths over a site. first one to do was 70mtr run which the site gaffa told us to pull in and where (he even checked it 3 times) only to be told after we pulled it in it was the wrong cable length, pulled it out, pulled the new one in.......only to be told we had put the right one in first time!! so we had to pull it out and pull in again!!

trying to get a panel board into a basement with a2nd year apprentice built like a pair of shoe laces.on the same job removing massive commercial storage heaters n transporting it all to the skip 100m away, with enough bricks to rival the great wall of china stacked up in the street. oh aye that job was a peach.
