Hi ive been asked to reroute some exsisting cables in a domestic property, building control have been notified by the local council. When i reroute am i responsible for the full installation ? if not am i responsible for the full length of the cables or just the parts i re route ? my problem is if i re route i obviously have to clip cables and drill joists to correct depths etc but the other parts im not re routing will not be installed to current regs, i.e cable clipped etc...

Are you using original cables or new cables ??? unless you are putting in a new circuit back to the board changing mcb rating or going into special locations why have you notified the local lbc this i would class as old for new as you are only doing minor works my friend

the local council has got involved as they have ordered a wheelchair lift which runs through the floor , the builder has attended to cut the hole in the ceiling and noticed the cables and advised the council who has in turn notified building control.

So if i have to add cables to lengthen the cables to re route is it still minor works ?

dunno about notifiable, but i have been told today that i an certifiable. does that mean i'm part pee?
