Currently stuck on the m25 and saw a lady and her kids stuck as there car had broken down in the middle of all the traffic.

We are currently towing her, slowly, around the m25 to get her to the services.

The best bit, we have no tow rope so a bit of 10mm has done the job

Tow ropes are not dAngerous but they do take a lot of practice, my best mate is a mobile mechanic and I spent a lot of time working with him, me and him Had rope towing down to a fine art!

The secret is that the car behind does all the braking to keep the rope taught

During my early teens/twenties I was towed no end of times by rope. I agree it's an art, but I do think it's bloody dangerous, especially when it's a high vehicle towing you and you have no idea what's coming...

Me and my best pal have it mastered, over the years.

Rear vehicle braking is the key.

Towing at night once behind a pick up and it started raining and the battery ran out was quite scary!!!

Or when the guy towing you puts his hazard lights on so you don't know when he is about to turn, or which way he is going to go.

I was always told that tow ropes are ok on normal roads but not on motorways, but I guess I may have been told wrong.

What's the difference between a nromal road and a motorway???? Motorways safer for towing if anything becaus eof lack of corners and more constant speed. Daz

It's just what I was told, and I believed it at the time

(maybe if you are towing on a motorway then you might go a bit faster, and maybe you are likely to have a longer journey, or maybe I was misled).

It might be something to do with having to be towed away within a certain time, or by an official breakdown service or something. That rings a bell to me. Any ex-traffic cops who can clear this up for us?? And what about the joke by the way :) ??? Daz
