Was putting a new concrete driveway in. And decided lights would be a good idea. So four driveway lights connected up. Quick continuity test and concrete poured. Connected up back in the house and it keeps throwing the trip. Another continuity test everything ok. Did an ir test 500v and got 0.01 across all 3 cables. Any ideas on how I went wrong and more importantly how to fix it lol

For the life of me, i can't understand why you buried these boxes in the concrete?? Surely if you installed the conduit before pouring the concrete, why didn't you just put 90 degree bends in, to bring the conduit and wiring above the level of the concrete. You could have then cut the conduit to length and connected the fittings at your leisure. Plus the system would be completely rewireable, and most importantly, you wouldn't be in the mess you are now!! ...lol!!

Because my friend that would have been 2 easy!

Rather than taking a pick to the concrete if you know where the boxes are can you not core drill down to them to save breaking up more concrete than you need to

With a cable locator this would be probably be possible, some of them are pretty damn accurate.

How are the IR results looking now Gary? Are they improving or did you need to dig the joints up?

Looking at his Avatar I would say he know's quite a bit about Joints....:sifone:

me too fingers crossed

Personally I would have brought all cables up to the surface and when the concrete is laid then terminate into conduit boxes , you're only hope now is to find the boxes and correct the faults I suppose , the cables won't be long enough now to raise ,

Why not do as already mentioned and turn it into a Low voltage lighting circuit and use either a transformer or driver back at the origin ,

If I can drag my --- outa bed this morning I'm going to check the IR. if it's still to low think I'll go the 12v route.

I was up and out with the dog at 6am for 2hrs ya lazy sod, get downstairs and test it , don't keep us all in suspenders!!

Well!!!!!!!

So not only are you pillock of the month for this install , you are also employee of the month.
