need a good stud finders

I have a Stanley stud finder ,which is not reliable .I do not want a new one that is going to cost the earth ,but reliable to find studs walls or joists on ceilings .

I’ve had one of these for years that I pinched from my dad got myself a new one a few months back and they’re still just as good takes a bit of faffing to set the right depth at first but once your used to it you’ll think it’s the best one ever made even though it looks a bit cheap and nasty.

I use a mirror- always gives a positive stud result though
