How do you mean google couldnt see it mate? Did it not work on your PC? I have a good AdWords campaign, but thats a whole new ball park of confused righ there. think its generated me 12 hits on my site in the last 2 months and cost me £5.78! haha very effective.....

I know contractors in the South East that spend £500 a month on Adwords and get more than that back in business profit as a result.

If i knew how to make the campaign more effecitve i would most certainly increase my budget for it, but as it stands im reluctant to spend hundreds a month if its not going to get me a result. Its one of those things i guess tho, you gota spend to earn etc

Hello mate,

I have recently just had a brand new site built by Gary Greenwood @ Mediamash. So im up and going. Thanks all the same buddy and your site looks good. how did you find the Nulti skill courses and the basic joinery? been thinking about doing one of those "handy man" courses but am a little dubious about the content.

Regards, Ben

The Multi-skills course was abit basic, dont get me wrong it taught me abit of plumbing which i new nothing about, but the painting bit was abit dull, you know the saying if you can pee you can paint.

The carpentry was very good indeed, ive always fancied carpentry, but i was useless at it. But it taught me the right tools to use which is basically the trick it seems as i am alot better at it now.

i had to get better at it as my brother-in-law is a good carpenter he builds bespoke boats, but im still miles away from that league.

Carpentry is always something i have loved doing, but generally find myself being a little useless. Now, as funny as everyone finds it, i can only wink with one eye...my right one. And im horribly backwards when it comes to choosing a "hand" to be. im not left handed, but i write with my left hand and do everything else with my right UNLESS i need to wink in order to be more precise, such as shooting, playing pool etc, which i do left handed, so no problem. but i use a saw and all other tools, right handed, so when i need to cut a straight line and most people wink an eye to get that straight perspective, i however, cannot do this, so i often end up, cutting diagonaly...which makes for rather un tidy joints :(

But a lot of domestic electrical work usually requires quite a broad array of skills, and being able to adjust to most scenarios is essential so being able to work with wood well and plaster and manipulate brick work etc is quite important, so i was thinking about doing one of these multi courses just to touch up on my current skill set. i was a little concerned at how vague they might be and a bit thin on substance. If you dont mind me asking Justin how long was your course and what were the fees? was it a C&G course?

Ahhh,

Now thats where i cant help you, they were city and guilds level 1's both the carpentry and the multi skills.

But i was actually in prison when i done them.

Yes i know :uhoh2: i was a bad lad but i am sorting it out now. It was a case of the short , sharp, shock for me.

But i was lucky, i had 18months to do, so i got myself transfered to a decent prison, with a college, done my NVQ Level 2 electrics, Carpentry and Multi-skills level 1, i also did NVQ Level 1 and 2 in vehicle body and paint operations. I even started studying for C&G 2382 17th Edition Wiring regs in there in the evenings via open uniiveristy.

but when your in there as you have so much time on your hands you can do the courses as quick as you want so i done all the above in 16 months, i was very lucky indeed.

but i aint going back, lol

Every cloud has a silver lining huh buddy. getting that lot done in 16 months is good going and good on you for applying your time wisely and making the best of a bad situation.

How have you got on with your 2382? finished it yet?

yeah i took the exam a month after getting out last year and past.

Whilst i was in there i also applied to colleges so i could do my level 3 C&G 2330 when i got out, which i did and past it, finishing about a month ago.

Ive been on PAt testing course, Aico fire products training course as well, so its been a busy year.

i am now desperatley trying to find work, as i have little experience outside the classroom, ive posted on here offering myself for free, to try and gain some experience.

So ive got my fingers crossed someone will give me a break

People dont seem that interested in having "mates" with them anymore though, i noticed that when i finished my training. no matter how many times you emphasise free, makes little difference. i guess people are too busy to have to be worrying about a newbie and just want the job done quickly so they can get on with the next. shame really.

Are you going for firm work or going sole trader straight up?
