New build, garage, studio flat above.

Appreciate your thoughts on this please. New build house, 1 x double garage with studio flat above. The studio flat above will be self contained with small cooker, Imm/Htr etc.
1 Phase PME supply at house. All circuits RCBO's except U/G SWA cable to garage / studio flat. SWA protected by MCB only.
Normally I would fit consumer unit in garage as per norm. But this situation, I'm thinking taking the SWA cable to consumer unit within the studio flat (on top of the garage) then from there using SWA cable to the garage protected by a MCB only.
All circuits within the flat will have to be RCD protected, but I don't want the SWA from there to the garage RCD protected. All circuits within the garage will be RCD protected. The idea being flat and garage electrically 100% separate. Person in flat will have no access to garage.

you could split the SWA in garage. if necessary fit a Sw/ fuse to feed the SWA to the flat.

Sorry mate but I think you need a bit more thought on this. How do you propose the studio/flat to be completely electrically seperate if the cut out (such as it is) is in an adjacent house and would require access to it in case of fault? How is metering proposed to be done?
I've not even thought of the garage supply yet, is that supposed to be on with the house? Or is that another independent supply?

Possibly not explained very well. 1 Ph intake / meter at house. Meter covers house, studio flat and garage. By electrically separate what I meant was, if a RCD operated in the flat, the tenant could reset it locally within the flat as opposed a RCd sited in the garage. Hope the helps

See earlier comment mate. I'm sorry but I'm just not getting how you're proposing to do this. There are much easier ways imo.
Garage on the downstairs RFC thus eliminating the need for any switchgear there. What are you going to need in there? A light and a socket, piece of cake man.
Tails into henleys in the house and split off to flat, seperate fuse up there and a landlord's meter there to allow for recharging of energy used at an agreed rate. RCBO CU in the flat, jobs a goodun

Agree Murdoc.......I would have to treat the flat just like an ordinary domestic dwelling. ie split board or all RCBO's

Thats exactly what I don't want Trev. I don't want a flat RCD feeding garage RCD

SWA was installed for garage and possible office above. After house 1st fixed, owner decided to make the office a studio flat to rent out.

RCBO is the way to go. You can't have many circuits in a studio!

I may well do that in the end Murdoc......The house is 22 x RCBO's + 1 x MCB for garage / studio flat. Studio flat may have approx 5 circuits inc smoke /heat. Garage approx 2/3 circuits

If you've used RCBO's in the house then using them in the studio makes sense. Garage could be 1 RCBO and 1 MCB
