can someone please clarify this for me im at my wits end,

there are currently no plastic fuse boxes that are non cumbustible for sale from wholesales?

if fit a plastic cu, need to box it in with plaster board ect?

if i wire in new circuit from a new plastic cu to say a socket in hallway, i cant issue minor works cert? then its a fail? then say the client who wanted a ÂŁ50 socket wired to hall needs to pay 100's to ge cu changed to metal? or enclose it? whos responsibility is it to enclose it? a joniner or builder? they will prob change a **** load too?

any info much appreacited

yes its for scotland private landlords. surley plastic cu is now fire hazard as cud potentially burst into flames coz loose neutrals. so wud be c2 code. c2 is unsatisfactory. which means flat dont have ecir, therefore no tenants move in, so what does landlord do? pay ton of dosh for metal cu?

A plastic CU is NOT a C1 or a C2

anyone stating otherwise is fibbing

SK, you'll be getting us Scots sparks a bad name! As has been said, a plastic CU would not normally warrant a Code 2 on an EICR, but a Code 3. If you are doing EICRs you need to have a better than average understanding of the Regulations. Not having a go, but if you are taking on this type of work you/your employer are taking on a transfer of risk, so need to be on the ball.

For the info of others south of the border, private rented accomm in Scotland now requires an EICR in order to be offered for let (01/12/15). Existing lets require to have an EICR completed by Dec 2016

Have an EICR completed doesn't mean it has to be satisfactory!

That's because you have not looked up any of the information suggested to you and have not been paying attention to the replies.

FFS read post # 14 again and do what I suggested. I keep a printed copy on my desk

and if you want sense, best not ring the NICEIC

Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the inspector to determine the Codes he/ she wishes to apply. Your Scheme will give general advice. Like you, I have seen suggested the plastic CUs under timber staircases, where the staircase is the only means of escape, may be considered for a Code 2, but like I said, the decision rests with the inspector
