hi all,

Thanks in advance for having a look at this problem.

Long story short, we have just moved into a new house. Unfortunately it’s transpired that the shower pump is also connected to the switch for the immersion heater.

I'm not a morning person at the best of times, but having to get up 30mins earlier than normal to put the immersion heater/shower on before I get in is not ideal!

Has anyone ever seen this type of setup? Also, is there anything that can be down about the switch? Like some sort of Smart switch or timer??

Really appreciate any help.

Joe

P.s. I'll obviously get a qualified spark to do any work required :)

Thanks for all replies! Very helpful indeed!

Few queries on this above but yes, it's an old house but new house for me (first time buyer).

I see that an immersion timer might be a good solution, would it just be a case of buying something like this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01E9R2SZO/ref=pe_4032721_311397401_em_1p_0_ti

Which would replace the switch (and RCD spur too??). Also, would this be ok to run shower pump and immersion from?

As above - I'd ask a spark to do any work required.

Cheers

Guess thats why the pervious 'spark' added a local RCD, i.e. no RCD protection at source?

@Joefarq1 could you add some pics of your fuseboard if your willing?
Or there is RCD protection at source and a plumber added a second one just in case...
