i have just had a new kitchen fitted.

i was advised that the electrics that were there for my existing cooker (all in one electric inc hobs) and extractor fan were no good and that i will need have a new feed put in from the fuse box. i am confused it all was / seemed fine before and the fuse box has a swich for the cooker and that all worked fine. any way the did the following...

installed a earth (my house didnt have one)
extension of cooker circuit, new supply for kitchen sockets and spurs
new supply for extractor fan
bonding where required
new 16 amp breaker

materuaks and labour £550
extras socket face plates and cooker isolator £60

£610.

Certificates should be issued on completion of a job. Obviously it's impractical to expect them immediately after the spark closes the toolbox but in your position I would be expecting them within a week.
If this happens and you're happy with the work/price/our opinions on it then save him for the future, if not bin him:)

3rd member to ask.....did you recieve paperwork/certs for this work carried out in your property?.....it will give us all in here a clearer view ......you havn`t come in here and posted/asked for knowt.......

One thing you could do, to put your mind at rest, is google the "competent persons" website, and look up the individual who did the electrics. Such work in a kitchen is covered by Part P and the individual is required to be registered with a scheme.

no logos on invoice.

yes the competent person who dont the work gave me invoice on invoice in the job it says + electrical certificate to comply to current regs. ( i am waiting for a call back regarding this but assume the cert will be issued in the post when some one has been to inspect the job:)

This is interesting?

I would have hoped the 'competent person' would have inspected and tested it themselves.

i dont know

whats odd is my dad had his whole house re wired but his friend who is an electrician who charged just 500labour for the lot after someone came to inspect it and he got his certificate. they were testing it is they went along and were writing different figures down etc

This is interesting?
