How are you finding sales? We've gone quiet again but the weather has been awful - need some sun!

Sun finally came out the other the day and had an enquiry from my website last night:) Most of the leads I'm being given are pretty rubbish but it's more a case of throw enough **** and some of it will stick, I'm trying to concentrate more on Self Generating now, at least I can then control the quality:) It will pick up now- The winter has been long and hard, amazing what a bit of sun does:)

What size is your system at home SRE?

On a smaller system I assume they would use more. I've been looking at what peoples baseload power is and trying to be realistic based on that however the last week I've been to a Stables that is using 12000kWh a year and a home based dentist yesterday who is using 18000kWh a year!! There is nothing I can find in the new PV guide that gives any guidance on this or a standardised approach.

It's 3.96kwp- seems completely ridiculous that something that affects the payback so drastically has no guidance - unless they are assuming that everyone uses 50% because of the deemed export. The whole things seems to be a fiasco to me - for the last 2 years we've generated 3,500kwh/pa yet the new calculation shows it should be around 2100 - 2500.

Maybe we need to produce an open letter, explaining our concerns?
I started drafting one a couple of weeks ago, can finish it over the weekend and post it up here for comment before circulating to get signatures?

I've got another one on the go as well for greg barker after meeting him briefly yesterday to see if I can get him to address the problems with EPCs for listed buildings, churches, maximum DNO timescales for G59 applicaitons etc so could circulate both at once maybe.

Sounds good, Gavin.

Yeah, post it on the Sun Lounge first of all and we'll give some input. When we've got something that we're all happy with, we should post it on the main forum and I'll make it a sticky?

Hopefully we can at least get some dialogue going with MCS about out concerns.

he took me by surprise by bounding over saying something like 'I've got to go and talk to the solar guys...' just as I was returning with a tea in one hand, coffee in the other, and he actually was being ok, on his latest hobby horse about the preference for roof mounted solar over big ground mount solar farms on prime agricultural land, which tbf I agree with him on... plus my brother had already told me he'd be letting me rot in jail rather than paying bail money.

Same here. Getting very close to jacking it all in and reverting to one-man-band-lacky-for-hire status. I see very little point in carrying on with solar.
