New RCD Cu...every circuit tripping RCD

D

Diode

I just fitted a new RCD Cu and the ring, and lights etc trip the RCD when powered up. The only things that don't trip it are the new shower circuit, the emmersor and the power to the heating timer. The ring trips it and so does the lighting when powered. I've had to modify the board so that the RCD only does the shower for now but I'd like to have my sockets on it too and perhaps the lighting. It's a 2 bedroom house from about the 70's with original wiring I'd say.

There should be a level before "arms" for those doing training so those learning the trade can ask questions in a more confined environment.

The number of DIYers is reducing this once brilliant forum to DIYnot level.

Maybe the mods could create an "Electricians Arms backroom" for us trainees...

We could just PM with our requests for access, along with course and college details etc.
The pool table and strippers stay in the Arms!!!

Anyone who can display any degree of electrical knowledge in their posts is not going to have any problem getting advice from forum members. I cant see any need for a 'half trained sparky' forum. I've never bothered joining the arms even though I'm a registered contracter simply because I can get all the answers I need on the regular forum.

Just got back from Screwflux and there was a line 8 deep of weekender DIYs maybe some of them were budding sparks so as I came in and went straight to the collection counter I got a few looks but I did click and collect so in and out within 5 minutes. I had to use the Screwflux counter instead of Electroflux as it closes after 5 and it got me thinking they will not allow joe public in the Electroflux section but will happily sell him a CU in the Screwflux counter
