well name one then big mouth, simply started the thread just to understand the scale of the ammendments simple as that are they small changes to the trade or big alterations missed, i actually dont want your opinion now user ignored :13:

i noticed that the BGB is also available in pdf format, something i think is a great idea. i plan to eventually get a tablet so that all my books and forms can be easily carried around, and easily searched and referenced. i hope to get one that i can edit using a stylus, thereby enabling the tablet to essentially be a mobile office.
only thing though, is that the pdf version is also expensive. the IET have this package available:

i would have thought that the pdf would be cheaper as there are no printing costs, but there you go.

i'm of the opinion that all the books need to be kept updated and therefore we need to keep buying and reading them all. i actually currently have GN8 on my bedside table and am reading it every evening, and the regs book is out on the kitchen table permanently. they could be cheaper, no denying it, but look at what other trades and professions have to pay for the same thing. i know the accountants stuff is in a state of perpetual change and they get "updates" on an almost weekly basis. my sister in law is a doctor and all her books are literally hundreds of pounds each. its just the way it goes if you want to keep on top of your game.

The price probably has a piracy factor added in, you can get most ebooks free if you know where to look

ye that would be good i saw online that theres going to be a new on site guide also coming out soon think id rather buy that first and just eventually buy the book

We all hate shelling out money for stuff that eats into the 'bottom line' - profit and OK, £60+ for a book ain't cheap; but as has been said you can claim it back through your tax and regrettably it is a necessary evil. I don't appreciate the cost either but if you are a legitimate, scam-registered sparky you'll need the book when it comes to annual assessment, let alone to do your job properly?

I know isitnow says he'll buy the OSG first and Regs later, but you hear other sparkies say they'll only buy the OSG, how can someone working as an electrician only have the OSG if they are wanting to do the job properly?
