I'm not sharing my address with anyone though. Unironically not even my boss knows my phone number, mainly because I don't want him or anyone from the company bothering me with silly messages or random calls outside my work hours.
Been browsing the forum a bit and there's quite a lot of decent content I could use to learn a thing or two.

We're open to all. We have country specific sections for most areas so you ought to have a few members in your country or not far from.

We're a nice bunch, don't think anything is mandatory beyond country; in a place like yhis ypu get put what you put in and in terms of marketing etc you'll get few and far between from here and believe most, if not all can put optted out of (GDPR and all thsa)

Hello all I am a new Trainee based in Liverpool Merseyside and am making my first steps into the industry.

I qualified from one of the online colleges and it has been confusing to me how to go about finding employment whilst part qualified... not much support from my college on that front but I have managed to do some bits of work independently and with other electricians, and I have just got my hands on my first ECS card.

I am always looking for opportunities to gain experience and learn something. I could work for someone for free if they could teach me something about working as an Electrician. I would be pleased to work with anyone local or within driving distance of Liverpool, I have many of my own tools and transport.

I’m based in Bristol as well lol, your best chance is enroll in college, to do your level 2, just incase you don’t land an apprenticeship that way you can learn the basics and have more experience.

Level 2, level 1 is for those who didn’t get a gsce grade 4(C) in maths or English, and it’s usually for people aged 16-19, level 2 is where you want to start. Goodluck!

I’m 18 years old myself so I’m not sure what they used to call the courses hahaha. By saying C&G you mean city and guilds? The Level 2 qualification is city and guilds, by doing level 2 it allows you to progress onto level 3 this qualification allows you to be fully qualified, I was told this by my teacher in college. But to answer your question level 2 is part of city and guilds.

Hmm don't be fooled into thinking you will be fully qualified, there is no such thing as a fully qualified electrician, just those with more experience than others, there are no Statutory Regulations or Qualifications for electrical works installation or practice for electricians, although the Regulations made up by the IET have become what most are judged against.

My advice would be to get this book: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Practical-Inspection-Certification-Electrical-Installations/dp/1138613320 it gives model questions and answers based on the C&G course and has more information than you will get from sitting in a room being talked at.

there are no Statutory Regulations or Qualifications for electrical works installation or practice for electricians

The Statutory requirements are there and set out under the Electricity At Work Regulations 1989 (EAWR 1989) under Regulation 16. Regulation 16 sets out the need for competency.
The EAWR 1989 draws its authority from the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. As such consequences for breach can be severe.

It is unlikely (or one would like to believe) that any employer with integrity would look to employ a person where such a person cannot demonstrate competency. Be that to the recognition of the industry approved standards and/or to a level the employer would be happen to risk it all against in court! The Health & Safety at work act catches all parties.
Some electrical duty holders would simply not 'sign-off' a person as safe without such a demonstration.

In the event of an incident how that competency is judged would, at the end of the day, be something for a court to decide. Formal training to industry approved standards that can be demonstrated, and working to industry approved non-statutory regulations (BS 7671) would provide a robust defence for any action brought under EAWR 1989. See also note from H S E page 17 BS7671:2018 + A2 2022
