i've just phoned niceic regards dis inspection.my question is regards to labc,they want to charge me £227+vat to sign each job off!! on top off the £435 the niceic want. would they accept a certificate by a mate who is niceic already or does it have to be labc???

I would do the work near the assessment date and once you pass, you can sign off your work.
If you don't pass, you can then notify LABC.
Good luck, you won't fail your assessment for not notifying LABC

thanks rappid,trouble is niceic want details of the worl but then theres a 3 month waiting list for the assessment,in which case i need to notify labc within 30 days.real catch 22 stuff. are the niceic always this much hard work? i spoke to elecsa and they said exactly the same as you,trouble is all the builders im planning on working for want niceic!!

what about changing a CU in your own property? The end customer may not want people in their homes 3 months after the work is completed.
what you could do is ask friends and family if they want anything done and do it at a reduce rate or for free if they paid for the materials as long as you can use it for you assessment.

dont you have to inform labc before you start any notifiable work ?

yeah you have to notify labc first,but speaking to them it was a bit of a suprise to them,obviously no one bothers
