Hi ,

have a question about the niceic domestic installer scheme requirements.

When joining It it says that they require 1 years worth of installation certificates

How can you issue installation certificates if your not registered with scheme ?

Thanks

Hi dibb , I just read that anybody who is competent can issue mwc's and eic's ( plain template copy's) it would just meant notifying building control before hand , I would then keep hold of these copy's for when it comes to my own assessment . I know it would be pricey having building control notifying my works for a while .

Hi Gavlar, before you waste any money..... don't notify building control!!! Waste of time and money if you want to join one of the scams! Just use a couple of jobs you've done recently (notifiable) for your assessment and bang em through once you are on the books! simples mate!

No a domestic installer is someone who comes on here asking how to wire a light up, has left the regs book on site, wanted to be a spark all their life but has kids etc and couldnt afford to do a proper education to be a spark, they are the ones who carry on even if told they are dangerous and will kill someone.
ahh i see...

its just that all these new terms and positions are very confusing....

as i had it it was your an electrician....or not...

so, now there is a bit of title variety....sounds good..

its all about choice these days...titles for all today...competance for a few tomorrow...

Cotty , the notifiable works which I will use for my assessment will need to be signed off by either a registered person or building control , this is must so the assessor knows the job has been safely signed off , so , I would need to pay for a) the person to sign it off , and b) for the niceic to come assess it ! It's ******** .. Just would seem first couple of jobs I would have to do for basically nothing , cheers for the input much appreciate

gavlar, no one has yet been prosecuted for not notifying a job. So unless you are very unlucky it is highly unlikely to happen to you. Should it happen as long as you have your assessment booked and pass it I would find it very unlikely that they would do anything to you in regards to it.

Have you not considered doing the notifiable work at your own property? Maybe a family members? The assessor isn't interested in who's who!! As long as you are confident in your work, the job's a good un!

I don't do domestic, thank God, but I've read enough threads identical to this one to see what happens.

You don't have to pay anyone to sign the work off, or notify B.C or work for nothing.

Do as above and carry out the work, use them for your assessment, then notify through your scheme after.

You're not being assessed on your ability to notify, your being assessed on your ability to carry out the work.

About time the DI scheme was abolished, get to college and learn properly for heavens sake, this is to all of you 17 day building regs guys, do not waste 5,6,7 or 8k on a building reg, try and learn some electricians qualifications which will have merit and help you become competant, part p is a BUILDING REG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
