I was taught continuity ir I,r, test.fault finding is not as daunting as some think. you test as you were taught, it's either right or wrong. then you just have to find out why it's wrong.
You need to visualise the circuit and a drawing helps. With the type of circuit you have this is straightforward if I remember tomorrow I will do some rubbish? drawings.

You need to prove this so draw three lines, line, neutral and cpc. Leave the cpc with a gap in it and decide how continuity tests will prove the cpc is broken. You have a continuity tester and a lead with croc clips either end.Its just a cooker circut , pal, im thinking the earth cable is damaged.
I'll inform the client he has a fault on his cooker circuit that he'll have to attend to.Zs won't be fine on the cooker circuit I bet.
